Art II's Edible Color Wheel

Art II students got a special treat last week during their unit on Color Theory: creating an edible Color Wheel!

Students began with vanilla frosting colored red, yellow, and blue for the Primary Colors. They spread the frosting on vanilla wafer cookies and set them aside.

Next, they used the Primary Colors to mix the Secondary Colors in frosting: orange, green, and violet.

Then came mixing the Tertiary Colors: red-orange, orange-yellow, yellow-green, green-blue, blue-violet, and red-violet.

Finally, students mixed a dab of all of the Color Wheel colors to create a neutral gray, which is placed in the center of the Color Wheel.

After labeling all the colors, Art II students savored the best part of all: eating their Color Wheel!
